Q. Help, I am trying to add my plugin license key and getting an error message that mentions cURL.
A. cURL also known as Client URL is a library that allows you to communicate to different types of servers using many different types of protocols. EMP uses cURL to verify the license keys from the client server (your server) to (our) EMP servers. If the version of cURL on your server is low, it creates a security issue and EMP servers will reject the cURL communication and the license will fail to verify. If you get a cURL error while trying to activate a license, you will need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to update the cURL version on your website which will then allow you to activate your license key.
The error messages you may see:
Good news: a cURL error is one that can be easily fixed with a phone call or support ticket to your host. We know hosting is another huge topic (and you can read about that here, be sure to review the comments), two companies we have had good experience with are Flywheel and WP Engine – they make it very easy for you to do one click backups and re-installs.
Please feel free to leave comments or questions regarding cURL.
