Last week I mentioned the Pinterest Challenge with Maggie Lamar. By now, you know me well enough to know that if possible I need to personally shake down any and all guru’s for their secrets Since you are so awesome to read this blog, want you to be in on any insider intelligence.
Maggie began her journey with Pinterest as a BETA user. She met the developer at a conference eons ago and has been an uber user / tester from the platforms beginning.
In our chat we discuss:
- Some Pinterest stats. The demographics of the Pinterest user varies slightly around the world. There are more men in Europe on Pinterest than in the US. As a little side story about 3 years ago I began following Cormac O’Kelly on Pinterest, he is one of my favorite pinners. Turns out he is also in the Divi Theme Users Group and a super nice guy (we met for a pint in Dublin). Check out his boards if you are wondering if men really are using the platform and what they pin.
- Pinterest began as a place for crafters to share their creations, it has become the third largest search engine and the best one for visual searches. (Just to clarify, Google is #1, YouTube #2).
- KEYWORDS – now this is really important, and if you only watch one part of the video, watch the keywords bit. Maggie SHOWS YOU – exactly how to write your Image Titles, Alt Text & Descriptions, and what you need to do with Divi to maximize your Pinterest Pin that is slightly different from other WordPress themes.
- She discusses her upcoming Pinterest course. It will be available on ElegantMarketplace.net, soon (I will link it up and send an update in the newsletter when it launches. If you aren’t on the newsletter list, please join).
Maggie is a dynamo. She is beyond enthusiastic about Pinterest and clearly knows her stuff. I learned a lot in our meeting and enjoyed her concise, well laid out Pinterest 5 Day Challenge. I think that Pinterest is a valuable tool for many of us. Professionally I have clients / relationships with interior designers and food bloggers and they SWEAR that Pinterest has changed their business.
As a side note, sorry I look so shlumpy in the video. It was one of those days when I put on my exercise clothes and was going to answer ONE email before getting to the gym and getting that out of the way before our chat and well, before you knew it. . . . Maggie looks beautiful!
